Looking for a new dentist in Marlow? Courthouse Dental & Implants explains what your first appointment involves, what it costs, how payment works and how to register.

    📍 The Old Courthouse, Trinity Road, Marlow SL7 3AN | 🕗 Open Until 8pm on Wednesdays | 📞 01628 482002

Few people enjoy surprises at the dentist, and the unwelcome ones are usually about cost. So this guide starts with what new patients most want to know: what the first visit includes, what you’ll pay, and how and when payment works. It then covers how to register and what to expect at Courthouse Dental & Implants in the Old Courthouse on Trinity Road.

Short answer: Your first appointment is a full dental examination. We’ll go through your health and concerns, check your teeth, gums and mouth, take X-rays only if they’re clinically necessary, explain what we find and agree a plan with you. The cost depends on whether you choose NHS or private care, and we’ll always tell you before you commit.

Mixing NHS and private. You can have some treatments privately and others on the NHS, but NHS and private care can’t be combined within a single course of treatment.

Finance and plans. We offer payment plans to spread the cost of treatment, and a monthly subscription plan starting from £25 a month, which includes check-ups and hygiene appointments among other benefits. Ask us for the current details.

Smile consultations. If you’re thinking about private treatment, you’ll have a consultation, the checks needed (including X-rays and scans), and a tailored treatment plan that you can take home with no obligation. Our Invisalign consultation is free.

    How Do I Register?

Fill in the “Register as New Patient” form on our private dentist page, or call 01628 482002. Please tell us if you’re in pain, if you’re nervous, and whether you’re interested in NHS or private care. We’ll also confirm whether NHS places are currently available, since this can change.

What Happens at Your First Appointment

A conversation about your medical and dental history, medication and habits

An examination of your teeth and soft tissues

A gum check, because gum disease is easiest to treat early (see our gum disease page)

Mouth cancer screening, a routine and painless part of the check-up

A check of your bite and jaw joints, including signs of TMJ problems

    X-rays, only if clinically necessary

An explanation of what we’ve found and what your options are

You can ask questions at any point, and nothing happens without your agreement. We’ll tell you what any treatment involves and costs before you decide.

    What to Bring

    • Your medical history and details of any medication
    • Previous dental records or X-rays, if you have them
    • A note of anything that’s worrying you
    • Proof of NHS exemption, if you’re claiming free treatment
    • A way to pay, for private treatment

Nervous, or Haven’t Been for a Long Time?

You’re not alone, and we won’t judge. Tell us when you book, and we’ll go at your pace. We offer sedation options and relaxation techniques, and your first visit is about finding out where things stand and making a plan that suits you.

    Urgent Problems

If you’re in pain or have broken a tooth, tell us when you call, and we’ll aim to see you as soon as we can. If you have spreading facial swelling, difficulty swallowing or breathing, or feel very unwell, seek urgent medical help through NHS 111 or 999.

    After Your First Visit

If you need treatment, we’ll explain it and what it costs. If everything looks healthy, check-ups are generally recommended every six months, though your dentist may suggest a different interval based on your oral health, age and risk factors. If a hygiene visit would help, we’ll tell you (see hygiene appointments). And if you’d like to talk about your smile, we can discuss Invisalign, whitening, bonding or veneers.
